The Unveiling of Eleanor Roosevelt's Portrait
In this photograph, guests in the Cross Hall of the White House view the newly displayed portrait of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt by Douglas Chandor. The portrait was unveiled during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House on February 4, 1966. First Lady Lady Bird Johnson spearheaded efforts to acquire the portrait and the White House Historical Association purchased it for the White House Collection.
